KILWINNING (BLACKLANDS)

Between 2021-2022, fieldworkers Paul Bristow and John Hamilton led the People’s Parish Project in the Blacklands area, within the historic parish of Kilwinning.

Collaborating with Blacklands Primary School, the Corra Foundation, Kilwinning Archers Society, and Kilwinning Heritage Society, the project undertook action research concerning storytelling and local history, including:

  • Storytelling sessions at Blacklands Primary School; working with students to adapt and retell Leddy of Clonbeith and Bessie Graham

The project culminated with a comic by Blacklands Primary School students inspired by the traditional Kilwinning papingo shoot, as well as an animated version of the comic
